The advice process

A structured path from uncertainty to a clear course of action.

Each engagement follows a clear process from the initial discussion through to written advice and presentation.

STEP 1

Free introduction meeting

We start with a free, obligation-free conversation by phone or online meeting. It's a chance for you to explain what's happening, for me to understand the decisions you're facing and how urgent they are, and for us both to decide whether specialist advice is the right fit. There's no pressure and no cost — just a clearer sense of where you stand and what comes next.

STEP 2

Scope and information gathering

Once we agree to proceed, I gather the details needed to give accurate advice — your assets, income, the accommodation options on the table, Centrelink or DVA position, and any decisions pending on the family home. I’ll guide you on the information required so the advice can be based on a clear and well-documented understanding of your circumstances.

STEP 3

Strategy modelling

I then model the realistic funding options side by side — comparing how paying by RAD, DAP or a combination, and choosing to keep, sell or rent the home, each affect your cashflow, aged care fees, Age Pension entitlement and estate. Seeing the options costed against your actual numbers turns a complex, uncertain decision into a clear comparison.

STEP 4

Written advice

You receive a clear, written strategy document setting out my recommendations and the reasoning behind them, in plain language rather than jargon. It's yours to keep, revisit and share — so the whole family can understand the plan and the thinking behind it, even those who weren't part of the earlier conversations.

STEP 5

Advice presentation

Finally, we meet to walk through the advice together. I explain the recommendations, answer questions and talk through any concerns, so you're completely comfortable with the path forward before you act. Because meetings can be held online, family members, attorneys and carers in different locations can all take part — and you leave with a clear, practical set of next steps. For online advice presentations, you can choose to receive a recording for future reference.

Good advice isn't just about understanding the options — it's about knowing what to do next. I help families cut through the complexity and move forward with a clear, practical plan.
